Bible Passage Genesis 12:4, 6–7, 10 (NASB)

When God’s Will Doesn’t “Fall Into Place”

Date preached November 1, 2025
📖 Scripture Focus
Genesis 12:4, 6–7, 10 (NASB)
So Abram went away as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
[6] Abram passed through the land as far as the site of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. Now the Canaanites were in the land at that time.
[7] And the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.
[10] Now there was a famine in the land; so Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a time, because the famine was severe in the land.
💭 Devotional Thought
Often we are taught that if it’s God’s will, everything will fall into place.
But is that always true?
When Abraham obeyed God and ventured into Canaan, he expected blessing and promise — yet he found obstacles:
1. The land was already occupied by the Canaanites.
2. Soon after, a famine struck the land.
Abraham’s obedience led him into difficulty, not comfort. Yet God’s promise remained intact.
Through this, Abraham learned an essential truth:
Here is the truth, We must not judge God’s will by how things look, but by what God has spoken.
God’s will is not confirmed by ease but by revelation.
It’s not measured by circumstances but by faithfulness to His voice.
His will is determined by His insight and not merely our eyesight
🔥 Faith Principle
“God’s will isn’t based on what we feel, but on what God reveals.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NASB)
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Walking in faith means trusting God’s promise even when the path feels uncertain.
🙏 Reflection & Prayer
Reflection Question:
Has God ever led you into something difficult that later proved to be part of His plan?
What does Abraham’s experience teach you about trusting God’s timing and process?
Prayer:
Father, teach me to trust Your voice above what I see.
Help me to walk by faith, not by sight, and to stand firm in Your promises even when the path seems uncertain.
Strengthen my heart to obey You fully, knowing that Your will is good, perfect, and trustworthy.
In Yeshua’s name, amen
